Clear Detox Pathways
TLDR - Detoxification pathways are the routes through which your body eliminates toxins. Detox supplements and protocols won’t be as effective if these pathways aren’t clear.
Detox Pathways
Liver: The liver is the primary detox organ, processing and breaking down toxins so they can be excreted.
Kidneys: These organs filter blood, removing waste and excess substances, which are then excreted as urine.
Colon: The colon helps in the elimination of solid waste from the body.
Lymphatic System: This system helps remove toxins from tissues and transports them to the bloodstream for elimination.
Skin: Through sweating, the skin can excrete certain toxins.
Lungs: The lungs expel carbon dioxide and other volatile toxins through exhalation.
Internal Toxins
Internal toxins act as stressors within the body. When these toxins accumulate, they place the body in a constant state of fight or flight. This chronic stress response makes it challenging to relax and initiate healing processes, as the body is perpetually focused on managing these internal threats.
Mitochondria
Toxins also significantly impact mitochondrial function. Mitochondria are responsible for producing energy required for various biological processes, including healing and regeneration. When detox pathways are clogged, toxins accumulate and damage mitochondrial function, leading to decreased energy production. This impairment makes it difficult for the body to perform essential functions and impairs the healing process.
Clogged Pathways
Consider a supplement protocol designed to bind and eliminate heavy metals. If your detox pathways are clogged, these binders can’t effectively remove the toxins from your body. Instead, the toxins may be reabsorbed, perpetuating the cycle of toxicity and preventing true healing. This example shows why it is important to first support and clear detox pathways before taking additional steps.
Steps to Clear Your Detox Pathways
Support your Body Battery: Recommended practices under the “Body Battery” section.
Support your Levers Moving at the Right Times: Recommended practices under the “Levers Moving at Right Times” section.
Nutrient Dense Diet: Include nutrient dense foods to supply the body with nutrients for biochemical processes.
Hydration: Drink structured and mineralized water throughout the day and consider herbal teas like dandelion or nettle tea to help flush out toxins.
Fiber Intake: Increase fiber intake to promote healthy bowel movements and support colon detoxification. This should only be done AFTER you have eliminated any bad gut bacteria and have a healthy digestive system.
Exercise and Movement: Incorporate regular physical activity to stimulate the lymphatic system and remove toxins from tissues.
Sweating: Saunas, baths, exercise, and other practices that induce sweating help eliminate toxins through the skin
Breathing Exercises: Practice deep breathing techniques, like diaphragmatic breathing or alternate nostril breathing, to support lung detoxification.
Quality Sleep: Maintain a good sleep routine to ensure adequate, quality sleep, allowing the body to repair and regenerate effectively.
Supportive Supplements and Detox Protocols: These should only be implemented after the above are in place. See Detox Protocol post for more information.
