TLDR - In many situations, your conscious thoughts and subconscious beliefs may not align. While your analytical mind may want success, love, or health, your subconscious can hold conflicting beliefs that create internal friction, influencing your behavior and well-being. By tapping into the subconscious through techniques like muscle testing, meditation, and hypnosis, you can uncover and reprogram deep-seated beliefs that may be holding you back.
The Disconnect Between Conscious and Subconscious Beliefs
In many situations, your conscious thoughts and subconscious beliefs may not align. Sometimes, you're fully aware of this disconnect. For example, you might repeatedly say, "This doesn’t feel right," in a situation with friends, while experiencing a knot in your stomach or physical discomfort. This is your subconscious signaling its disagreement with your conscious mind.
However, there are times when this misalignment is less obvious. You may consciously want to succeed at work or build healthy relationships, but deep down, your subconscious holds beliefs that contradict these desires. If you consistently live out of sync with what your subconscious believes, this disconnect can significantly impact your health and prevent you from reaching your goals.
Additional Examples of Conscious-Subconscious Misalignment
Diet and Eating Habits
Analytical Brain: You might logically understand that eating healthy foods is good for your body and long-term health. You plan your meals accordingly and set goals to eat better.
Subconscious Mind: Despite your logical intentions, you might find yourself craving junk food or sugary snacks when stressed or emotional. This behavior may stem from past experiences where unhealthy foods provided comfort, signaling a subconscious association between these foods and emotional relief.
Socializing
Analytical Brain: You might consciously enjoy socializing and logically know that it’s important to maintain social connections.
Subconscious Mind: However, you may still feel nervous or self-conscious in social settings due to past experiences of rejection or embarrassment.
Relationships and Trust
Analytical Brain: You might recognize that a new partner or friend has shown themselves to be trustworthy and kind, and you consciously decide to open up to them.
Subconscious Mind: Yet, you may still feel hesitant or anxious about getting too close to this person, especially if you have past experiences of betrayal or hurt that have created deep-seated trust issues in your subconscious.
Career and Success
Analytical Brain: You may logically believe that you are capable and deserving of success in your career. You set ambitious goals and take steps toward achieving them.
Subconscious Mind: However, if you were often criticized or told you weren’t good enough growing up, your subconscious might harbor self-doubt or fear of failure, causing procrastination or self-sabotage, even as you consciously strive for success.
Exercise and Fitness
Analytical Brain: You know that regular exercise is crucial for maintaining your health and fitness, so you create a workout plan and set goals.
Subconscious Mind: Despite this knowledge, you might find it hard to stick to your workout routine because your subconscious associates exercise with discomfort or past failures, leading to avoidance or excuses.
Public Speaking
Analytical Brain: You might understand that you’re well-prepared and knowledgeable about the topic you need to present, and you logically decide that there’s no reason to be nervous.
Subconscious Mind: Nevertheless, you may experience physical symptoms of anxiety, such as a racing heart or sweaty palms, due to a subconscious fear of judgment or negative past experiences with public speaking.
Money and Financial Security
Analytical Brain: You may recognize that you are financially stable and have a solid savings plan. You logically understand that you are on the right track.
Subconscious Mind: Yet, you might constantly worry about money or feel insecure about your financial future, especially if you grew up in a household where money was a source of stress or scarcity.
Techniques to Tap Into Your Subconscious
Fortunately, there are ways to tap into your subconscious to better understand its true beliefs. By doing so, you can begin living in alignment with those beliefs, leading to a healthier life and making it easier to achieve your goals.
Muscle Testing: One of my preferred methods for accessing the subconscious is muscle testing, also known as applied kinesiology. This technique involves testing the body’s muscle responses to specific statements or questions. When your body responds weakly to a statement, it may indicate that your subconscious does not align with that belief, even if your conscious mind does. Muscle testing can reveal deeply held beliefs that might be sabotaging your goals or causing inner conflict. I highly recommend exploring this method further through my detailed muscle testing course.
Meditation: Meditation is another tool for accessing the subconscious. By calming the analytical mind and focusing inward, meditation allows you to observe the thoughts and emotions that arise from your subconscious without judgment. Over time, regular meditation can help you identify recurring patterns or beliefs that influence your behavior and emotions, providing a clearer understanding of your subconscious mind.
Hypnosis: Hypnotherapy is a technique that guides you into a deep state of relaxation, where your subconscious mind becomes more accessible. In this state, a trained hypnotherapist can help you explore and reprogram subconscious beliefs that may be limiting your potential. Hypnosis can be particularly effective for addressing deep-seated fears, phobias, or habits that are rooted in the subconscious.
Writing and Journaling: Writing is another effective way to tap into your subconscious. By engaging in free writing (where you allow thoughts to flow onto the page without censoring or editing), you can uncover hidden beliefs and emotions. Journaling about your thoughts, dreams, and experiences can also provide insights into what your subconscious mind is processing, revealing beliefs that might otherwise remain hidden.
